AJ Lee's rise in WWE was quite meteoric, all things considered. Though she originally gained notice working as more of a valet than anything else, when she was eventually given the spotlight as an in-ring performer, she excelled in that avenue as well. She really accomplished everything that was possible for her - though of course, it wasn't easy.

As Lee stated in Crazy Is My Superpower, one of the difficulties that she faced involved what she perceived as other women in the company trying to sabotage her. Though again Lee didn't name any names, she mentioned that colleagues of hers with complaints would go over her head and straight to management, potentially causing long-term problems in the process.

This memorably came to a head when Lee accepted the 2014 Slammy Award for Diva of the Year. In her acceptance speech, she drew the ire of the front office for bidding a subtle goodbye to the fans (she ended up retiring a few months later) and saying that she hoped Bayley, Charlotte, or Paige would win the award in 2015, omitting any mention of her more tenured colleagues.
