10 Biggest Screw-Ups Committed By WWE Superstars

2. John Cena and Batista Accidentally Go To Overtime

John Cena and Batista's botch at the 2005 Royal Rumble is not only one of the most embarrassing screw-ups in WWE history, it's also probably the most expertly covered accident on this list. The pair were the two new biggest stars of the company, and fans were delighted to see the pair square off as the final two left in the match. Batista was booked to win after a back and forth brawl, toppling Cena backwards over the ropes from a powerbomb position. Unfortunately for the both of them, as Cena fell he somehow took the Animal with him, and the pair fell to the outside at pretty much the same time. Okay, truth be told, Batista probably hit the ground first, but it was close enough for the announce team to claim that they'd touched down simultaneously. God knows what they'd have done if Cena had teetered a second longer before falling. What followed was a fine display of improvisation from both wrestlers and the team of referees. They even managed to play up the Raw vs SmackDown rivalry, either set of refs claiming that their brand's superstar had won. There was still time for one more screw-up however, as Vince McMahon stormed down to the ring in typically angry fashion...only to tear his quads sliding under the bottom rope. He was forced to angrily give the call for overtime from a comical sitting position, like a child having a tantrum. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QLe_tAQ2Rs
