10 Biggest Secret GENIUSES In Modern Wrestling

9. MVP

MVP didn’t reinvent himself so much as gradually evolve into the best version of himself. In his initial WWE run he wrestled well against the likes of Chris Benoit and Matt Hardy, but was stymied by a bit of a boring sports-themed gimmick that was never going to see him rise above a certain point.

His 2020 return was overshadowed by that of Edge, but the impact Montel Vontavious Porter has had on his second run shouldn’t be understated. The Hurt Business was one of the best (and most bizarrely disbanded) stables in recent company history, spearheaded by an older, wiser MVP finally free to cut loose.

Now clad in smart suits and shades, Porter was allowed to inject far more personality into proceedings, and his influence on Bobby Lashley (in kayfabe and otherwise) saw The Almighty finally reach his potential.

Without resorting to gimmicks and tricks, MVP can sell a match as well as anyone. His character motivations always make sense - he attaches himself to the most dominant guy he can find in a bid to make money out of the business. It can be as simple as that.
