3. When Did Triple H & Stephanie McMahon Rekindle Their Relationship?
One of the most featured storylines of the Attitude Era was the relationship between Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. The two dominated the top storylines on RAW and SmackDown between 2000 and early 2001, this before an unfortunate injury to Triple H put him on the sidelines for the entire 2001 Invasion storyline.
When Triple H returned, he was an ultimate babyface, whereas Stephanie was still a heel character on the show. This meant that WWE needed to break the two up, this despite the two dating in real life at this point. The story WWE came up with involved Stephanie tricking Triple H into making him believe she was pregnant. This resulted in the two renewing their vows before Triple H found out the truth.
This all led to Chris Jericho being managed by Stephanie on the road to WrestleMania X8 as Jericho faced Triple H for the Undisputed Title in the main event of the aforementioned show.
The relationship from a kayfabe perspective was completely over. That was until the road to WrestleMania 25 came around and the McMahon family entered a feud with Randy Orton. During a segment leading up to the show, Orton RKO'd Stephanie. This led to Triple H, who was on SmackDown at this time, running to the ring to check on his real-life wife.
The fact that Triple H and Stephanie were suddenly back together was never explained or mentioned. WWE fans were just supposed to assume that they had to manage to re-kindle their romance in the prior seven years.
