Daniel Bryan's insertion into the main event picture just in time for WrestleMania XXX could almost be described as more of a complete u-turn than a swerve. Rebelling like crazy against WWE's wishes, many fans point blank refused to cheer a returning Batista after he was written to triumph in the 2014 Royal Rumble.

The question must be posed: just what were WWE thinking by ignoring Bryan's wild popularity and trying to force feed 'The Animal' to their customers instead? It defied all logic to turn a blind eye: Bryan had a pre-built story with Triple H and hand-picked Authority members like Randy Orton heading into 'Mania, having been robbed of the chance to be champ time and time again by the heel faction.

Faced with the threat of mass booing in their biggest match of the year, WWE officials eventually caved and let Bryan into the main event spotlight. Beating Triple H to earn a slot in the headline Triple Threat, Daniel then went on to win the title.

The fact it took immense fan pressure before WWE were willing to book their most popular babyface in such a match is shocking, but at least it happened. Batista vs. Orton in a singles match would have flopped spectacularly at 'Mania XXX.
