While WCW didn't create the 'Attitude Era', they did spark the attitude that would lead WWF into its most prosperous period.

The mid-'90s was a difficult time to be a WWF loyalist. While WCW was starting to hit its stride with sparks of realism and engaging storylines, WWF were busy going through their infamous "everyone has a job-related gimmick" phase. While Adam Bomb probably has a spot in the heart of someone, somewhere, the era isn't too fondly remembered these days. Opposing this were storylines such as DDP's rise to fame, Sting's rebirth into The Crow, and, of course, the New World Order.

Competition sparked hard once Vince McMahon realized that people were more interested in engaging professional wrestlers and not the garbage man. WCW's push into realism all but inspired the rise 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, his feud with Vince McMahon, and the entirety of the 'Attitude Era'. It's unfortunate that it took an nWo-sized wake-up call for a supposed "genius" to realize Max Moon wasn't the right direction for the company, but we'll take what we can get.
