8. Drew McIntyre

For the five years he spent in WWE, Drew McIntyre is widely remembered as being Vince McMahon's "Chosen One" both on and off-screen. He was given the golden endorsement from McMahon himself the night of his arrival on the August 28, 2009 edition of SmackDown and his run as a singles competitor looked promising.

It soon became apparent that the real reason he was being pushed so prominently from the get-go was because, along with Sheamus (more on him later), both McMahon and Triple H were high on his abilities. He had a ton of potential, sure, but they later learned that giving him an aggressive push as a rookie was the wrong move to make.

McIntyre had about a year of notable feuds with the likes of John Morrison, Kofi Kingston and Matt Hardy, but by late 2010, he was no different than any other enhancement talent on the roster. It might have been a combination of Triple H losing faith in him or the domestic incident that occurred between him and his now ex-wife Taryn Terrell (known in WWE as Tiffany), but things unfortunately didn't pan out for McIntyre the way many had hoped.

HHH's belief in him saw Drew stick around for a few more years before all hope was lost and he was unceremoniously released in June 2014.
