10 Biggest Unification Matches In Wrestling History
3. Kane vs. Triple H - World Heavyweight/Intercontinental Championships (No Mercy 2002)
In what still stands as one of the most unpopular decisions in wrestling history, WWE decided to put the Intercontinental Championship into retirement, a belt that had been with the company since 1979. The move was brought about following Raw general manager Eric Bischoff's decision to have "one show, one champion". Kane's feud with Triple H included the infamous Katie Vick angle, which made it one of the more complex of the time. The pair would face off at No Mercy 2002 where The Game would win and technically have the Intercontinental title for a fifth time, even though you never see him with the belt. The title was deactivated until Judgment Day in May of 2003 when a bigger design of the belt was brought in. Christian would win a battle royal to become the new champion.
