10 Biggest Winners And Losers From WWE WrestleMania 33
3. Winner: Shane McMahon
The internet wrestling community isn’t exactly known for its sound judgement and carefully considered opinions, but rarely do they (they, and regrettably, we) get something this wrong.
Shane McMahon vs. AJ Styles was tipped to be a tacky spot-fest wherein AJ unashamedly carried the much older McMahon. Instead what we got was a wrestling match, an exciting bout that flowed well, popped the crowd, and consisted of several carefully constructed elements, all of which served a greater story.
AJ is arguably a winner here too, but we always knew he’d come out of WrestleMania looking great – it’d take some sort of non-divine intervention to make him anything less. Shane really surprised not only the fans in attendance, but the viewers at home, eventually winning over a crowd who were firmly in AJ’s corner from the get-go.
Even in defeat, Shane came out looking fantastic, proving any doubters wrong about his ability to put on a WrestleMania-worthy performance, particularly one that’s equal parts wrestling and mania.
