10 Biggest WrestleMania 33 Missed Opportunities

7. Not Turning Sasha Banks

Sasha Banks’ heel turn has seemingly been on the horizon since Bayley became Raw Women’s Champion. The Boss has become increasingly snipey towards her former friend, despite helping her to victory on a handful of occasions, and if Charlotte moves to SmackDown as expected, Sasha will likely turn and inherit her role as the brand’s top heel.

WrestleMania 33 presented the perfect opportunity to pull the trigger, but WWE passed it up. Instead, Sasha was eliminated meekly after she and the other women had ganged-up on Nia Jax, and there was no sign of her afterwards. Bayley and Charlotte were left to fight to the finish, and Banks’ contributions for the evening felt entirely pointless.

All it would’ve have taken was a post-match attack on the sympathetic champion, and Raw’s next major women’s program would be set in motion. Instead, WWE relegated Banks to a bit part role at Mania, and the match concluded without any real turning points. They can obviously execute the turn at a later date, but it’s hard to imagine it being as memorable as if it came on the year’s biggest show.
