10 Biggest WrestleMania Lies

8. WrestleMania 7 Was Moved Due To Security Concerns But Really Was Poor Attendance

WrestleMania 7 was supposed to take place in the Los Angeles Coliseum with 55,000 or so fans in attendance. Instead, it took place in the LA Sports Arena with about 17,000 fans in attendance. The reason? WWE claims that they had security reasons due to Iraqi sympathizer Sgt. Slaughter drawing so much heat that people wanted to attack him. He was the WWE Champion defending the title against Hulk Hogan. When WWE released the True Story of WrestleMania DVD several years ago, Vince McMahon confirmed that it was going to take place LA Coliseum and there were even advertising photos shown proving that claim to be true. Television mentioned it too. They changed things because the Gulf War was going on so they were worried that maybe somebody might try something stupid. Keep in mind that WWE did the angle to make money off the real life event, but then they claimed to be worried about security. That's how WWE does business sometimes! According the WWE version of the story, they had about 17,000 tickets sold when they decided to move the event to the LA Sports Arena. It was only a few months before the event was going to take place. These days WWE can sell around 50,000 to 60,000 tickets for a WrestleMania months in advance, but not in 1991. Did they move because of security issues or poor ticket sales? Probably poor ticket sales, but they're not going to admit that. By the way, no security issues at the event.
