Heading into 2010, Shawn Michaels would stop at nothing to convince The Undertaker to face him in a WrestleMania rematch. Being as how Undertaker was World Heavyweight Champion, a victory in the Royal Rumble was the most direct route for Michaels, but elimination at the hands of Batista shattered his dreams. In the end, it was Edge who won the Rumble. The next month, The Undertaker was set to defend his title in an Elimination Chamber match against Chris Jericho, R-Truth, Rey Mysterio, CM Punk, and John Morrison. The match came down to Undertaker and Jericho, but Michaels managed to sneak into the Chamber and nail Undertaker with Sweet Chin Music, letting Jericho pick up the victory. Edge, who had teamed with Jericho prior to suffering an injury, jumped at the chance to take on the partner who had abandoned him during his convalescence. Meanwhile, a furious Undertaker finally agreed to face Michaels at the show of shows.
