10 Biggest Wrestling Matches That Never Happened

8. nWo vs. DX

The nWo and D-Generation X almost did go to war in 2007. It was years past the peak of both groups, but it still would have been pretty damn cool to see. WWE began teasing a feud, but due to Scott Hall’s personal problems, we never saw the stables battle in an official match.

When Eric Bischoff’s book came out, he showed up on Raw and took part in an infamous segment which saw Triple H mock Chris Masters for suddenly losing a lot of weight (because he failed a Wellness Policy test). But it seems that Bischoff telling the newly reformed DX that they were nothing but rip-offs of the nWo has been overlooked since then. This was an attempt to plant the seeds to eventually bring in Kevin Nash and Hall to battle the duo, but it never panned out.

This time period was a few years after Hall’s disastrous run in the newly reformed nWo in WWE, and a few years before he began turning his life around with DDP’s help. He was in a bad place, and management simply couldn’t rely on him to work a program. It’s too bad, as DX needed strong heels to work with (especially since they destroyed Cade and Murdoch and The Spirit Squad), and it would have finally given us a chance to see the top stables of WCW and WWE colliding.

It wasn’t until WrestleMania 31 where we saw the groups battle in any form, as Hogan, Hall and Nash briefly fought Billy Gunn, X-Pac and Shawn Michaels outside of the ring during the Triple H and Sting match. But by then, it was far too late to do an actual program.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
