10 Biggest Wrestling Matches That Never Happened

7. Steve Austin Vs. Brock Lesnar

This match almost happened, and it sure as hell shouldn’t have. In 2002, Austin was in a bad place with management. They suddenly wanted Austin to job to Lesnar on TV, and only told him of the idea the day before. Austin decided if that was the plan then he wasn’t coming to the show.

Years later, Austin teased a match with Brock before WrestleMania 32 when he had Paul Heyman on his podcast. He cut an impromptu promo on Lesnar that showed he still had some of that brilliant fire. However, it reportedly made Vince McMahon a bit upset as there wasn’t anything that big planned for Mania. It surely would have been a much bigger deal than Lesnar vs. Ambrose or Triple H vs. Roman Reigns.

Unfortunately, Austin apparently wasn’t up for the match. It's too bad as it would have been a huge spectacle. If nothing else, he could have taken on a Goldberg-like role and just Stunned Lesnar and beat him in a minute. Or, they could have brawled for a bit if Austin was up for it doing more.

There was a relatively short time frame where these two superstars could have battled, but unfortunately WWE was unable to make it work in a meaningful way.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
