10 Biggest Wrestling Matches That Never Happened

5. The Rock Vs. Shawn Michaels

If The Rock really wanted to have made this match happen, he surely could have. But the thing is, he wasn’t interested in it. The simple reason is he didn’t really care for Shawn Michaels.

Something went down between the two in the past, though we're not exactly sure what it was. Rock usually keeps his personal feuds to himself — unless they involve Vin Diesel of course. It’s rumored that Michaels was rude to Rock’s grandma when he came to work for her promotion in Hawaii when Rock was a teenager. Bret Hart also laid out in his book that Triple H and HBK didn’t care for Rock during his early days in the WWF. That bad blood seemed to last a long time.

It’s a shame that they weren’t able to settle a real-life feud, as they could have created a compelling worked one at any point in their careers. Michaels is unequaled when it comes to delivering in the ring, and Rock is a master at drawing in the crowds. Even in their 40s they could have delivered a classic, as we saw HBK put on one of the best performances in wrestling history against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 25.

The people deserved it, but sadly The People's Champ vs. The Heartbreak Kid was just never meant to be.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
