Shawn Stasiak was simply known as "Meat" because the idea behind the gimmick was that he was a "piece of meat" for the likes of Terri Runnels, Jacqueline and Ryan Shamrock aka the Pretty Mean Sisters. Without really saying what happened with them, WWE would imply that prior to and after his matches the women would have sex with Meat as a way to motivate him. When he won a match the women were happy. When he lost a match, the announcers would start making jokes about how he was too tired from pre-match activities to get the job done in the ring. He had some matches on Raw, but was mostly relegated to Heat duty. The Meat gimmick only lasted a few months in the summer of 1999. It was one of those booking ideas that likely came from the Vince Russo/Ed Ferrara team that drove WWE through the Attitude Era with some great booking in some cases, but also some bad ones like Meat.
