10 Biggest WWE Creative Mistakes Of 2019 (So Far)

5. Hot-Shotting Lacey Evans

ROMAN REIGNS BOO
WWE

For the bulk of 2019's first quarter, Lacey Evans' main roster run was a complete disaster.

WWE tried to spotlight here in the Royal Rumble. Entering first and paired with a "safe pair of hands" in Natalya, she promptly stunk the place up by landing on her backside after attempting to flip out of one of the veteran's moves, then totally failing at a kip up. Promoted from NXT entirely too early, Evans was exposed, and the following months saw her do nothing but march down the ramp, turn around, and return backstage without rhyme, reason, or explanation.

It was awful stuff, but the 'Sassy Southern Belle' showed signs of improvement while feuding with Becky Lynch. She's got her character down, the promos were fine, and their Money In The Bank encounter exceeded meagre expectations. Perhaps the experiment was actually paying off.

Then the 3 June episode of Raw and that botchy disaster with Charlotte Flair followed. Then Lacey sandbagged Bayley on her finisher, and, yeah... the experiment isn't paying off. Not at all.

None of this is Evans' fault. WWE have hung her out to dry by plucking her from developmental and expecting her to play a massive role way before her time, but such is life.
