10 Biggest WWE News Items Of 2014

7. The Return And The Death Of The Ultimate Warrior

"Every man's heart one day beats its final beat, his lungs breathe their final breath and if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others and makes them believe deeper in something larger than life, then his essence, his spirit will be immortalised." - The Ultimate Warrior on Raw, April 7. The saddest moment all year was the unfortunate passing of The Ultimate Warrior. It was huge news when it was announced that he would be the main inductee in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014. They went nearly 20 years without ever interacting with the guy and then all of a sudden he was back. His Hall of Fame speech was very good. It was cool to hear him talk about his family and how much they meant to him. It was also obvious that he loved being around the fans again because he wanted to thank them for all the support. There was a shot of him with Vince McMahon hugging that told us all we needed to know about how much he meant to Vince. They argued about a lot of things during their history, but in the end they were able to patch things up and show that respect. http://youtu.be/WCpQXqEI7EE The next night on Raw, he delivered a memorable speech that was included up above. I can remember sitting in the crowd that night, turned to a buddy and said "wow that was amazing." We were a bunch of adult men sitting in that packed crowd marking out like we were 10 year old kids again. That's because Warrior had that special connection. Warrior flew home to the Phoenix area on Tuesday after WrestleMania. That was the day he died. The news was broken by a Triple H tweet that Tuesday night and it was a total shock to the WWE Universe. There's no good news that can come from a man's surprising death, but at least Warrior was able to get into that ring one more time to say goodbye, which is what it felt like he did.
