10 Biggest WWE News Items Of 2014

6. End Of The Shield

It was the June 2nd edition of Raw. The Shield beat Evolution in a match for the second straight PPV. Batista quit WWE early in the show. At the end of the night, Triple H said he came up with Plan B while the three Shield guys were in the ring ready for a fight. Instead, Seth Rollins nailed Roman Reigns with a steel chair shot to the back and then he attacked Dean Ambrose with the chair too. http://youtu.be/SWLU0MWMR-w The heel turn by Rollins set in motion the major storyline that would change the face of WWE for the rest of the year. Rollins aligned himself with Triple H, Stephanie McMahon and Randy Orton as part of The Authority. Orton turned face, so he'll feud with Rollins soon. As we sit here six months later, Rollins is the top heel in the company while Reigns and Ambrose are two of the top faces although Reigns has been out of action for a couple of months. Whenever there were rumors of a Shield split, the man that was expected to turn heel was Ambrose. Rollins turned out to be a smart choice. He went on to win the Money in the Bank briefcase in the summer and was arguably the most consistent WWE performer all year. There will likely come a point in 2015 when WWE does a huge triple threat match between Rollins, Ambrose & Reigns. There's no need to really rush it. The longer they wait, the more it will mean when it actually happens.
