SummerSlam month was book-ended by two notable exits: Ric Flair, who parted ways four months after his 'retirement' match, and Mick Foley, who bolted for TNA after his contract expired at the very end of August. In between their departures, thirteen main-roster performers were let go, and for the most part, it was a seldom-used bunch.

Among the more notable cuts were ECW originals Stevie Richards and Little Guido, as well as former WCW employees Shannon Moore (released once more) and referee Nick Patrick. Big

Daddy V (Viscera) was also cut, as was the ill-fated Chris "Braden Walker" Harris. Cliff "Domino" Compton was fired, despite trying to get himself over with a self-made gimmick proposal video that WWE reportedly rejected out of hand for being too edgy.
