This wasn't a routine bloodletting, it was an outright massacre. Shortly after finalizing the rosters following the stretched-out 2005 Draft, WWE went on to part ways with no less than 21 performers: 19 releases/firings, plus Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley being informed that their contracts would not be renewed once they expired in late-August. Kayfabe half-brother Spike was among the 19 that got the immediate ax.

Among the other cuts were referee Earl Hebner and twin brother Dave, who were allegedly caught selling unauthorized WWE merchandise. As for in-ring performers, Charlie Haas, Billy Kidman, Shannon Moore, Maven, Matt Morgan, and Mark Jindrak were all released.

Valets Dawn Marie and Jackie Gayda also went, as did Marty Jannetty, who hadn't been used since his two impressive televised performances in March of that year.
