As mentioned before, "brother" Edge had a cup of coffee with WCW, jobbing out as weekend squash fodder for the likes of Kevin Sullivan and Meng in early-1996. He and Christian, despite being childhood friends that attended wrestling shows together, hadn't quite crossed paths with any regularity in the professional wrestling scene just yet, so he wouldn't have been on the WCW radar at that time.

Christian received a WWE tryout match in the fall of 1997, after he and Edge had begun to establish themselves as an act to watch in the Ontario independent scene. This decreased the chances of WCW snatching him up, as he was firmly in WWE's good graces by the time, with more than just elementary bumping skills in his tray.
