The real-life Tom Billington was rapidly deteriorating by the time Turner bought the assets of the company from the Crockett family. He and Davey Boy Smith left WWE around the same time of the purchase, so it stands to reason that even in his state of physical decline, Dynamite could have brought his still-considerable technical skills to a company always needing star wattage.

From 1989 through 1991, Billington performed for the decaying Stampede Wrestling, and toured All-Japan Pro Wrestling from time to time. It was a sporadic schedule, owing to his back failing him, so something more full-time could've been prohibitive toward him at that point. Could Dynamite have done an hour-draw with NWA Champion Ric Flair at that stage of the game? In his prime, it'd have been a sight to see.
