10 Biggest WWE WrestleMania 34 Missed Opportunities

1. Dream Match? Not Exactly...

Quality is subjective, but it's hard to view AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura as anything other than a letdown.

It was a good, solid bout. The action was fundamentally sound and built on logical psychology, with both men targeting different body parts, but it unfolded at a pace barely above house show level. A million miles from the heated classic they delivered inside the Tokyo Dome a couple of years ago, it never clicked into gear, and when the duo started looking for their finishers, it felt like they'd skipped an act.

It's telling that the popular duo lost the crowd so early and couldn't reel them back in. Granted, fatigue induced by 'Mania's colossal runtime likely had something to do with this, but citing the bout's card position as the sole reason for its failure reeks of mental gymnastics.

Whether or not Styles and Nakamura were holding themselves back for a rematch is irrelevant. This was supposed to be a "dream match," but it was no better than a Raw main event.

Here's hoping that Shinsuke's heel turn improves things when they inevitably meet again, because him and Styles must do better than this.
