10 Biggest WWE WrestleMania Letdowns
2. Triple H Vs. Booker T (WrestleMania XIX)
OK, this is the last Triple H-related entry on this list. Promise.
It's not that "The Game" has bad matches at WrestleMania. He rarely, if ever, does. The problem with his 'Mania XIX tussle with Booker T wasn't the action, it was the nonsensical build up that obsessed itself with an unnecessary tale of race WWE were always going to fumble their way through.
Hearing Triple H say that "people like" Booker don't become World Champion was tasteless enough without writing the sympathetic challenger to come up short when it mattered most. What kind of story was that to tell during a time of the year when more lapsed fans than ever tune in to see what all the fuss is about?
Telling those people that Booker T was a loser because of his skin colour was rotten, and it's deplorable to use something so crass without at least having the decency to pen a happy ending. Had Booker won the title and shoved Triple H's bigotry in his face, maybe the match would be considered more satisfying.
As that didn't happen, it's considered a washout.
