10 Biggest WWF vs WCW Firing Shots During Monday Night Wars

2. DX Invades WCW

In April 1998, the WWF was in full "Attitude Era" mode. They had gotten rid of the Saturday morning cartoon character wrestlers and replaced them with gritty, profane wrestlers who broke every rule imaginable. D-Generation X embodied the Attitude Era like no one else and furthered that reputation when they invaded WCW Nitro. In a move that shocked even the most experienced wrestling fan, D-Generation X drove an army truck to the Norfolk Scope and attempted to drive the vehicle down to the ring. They interacted with fans outside of the arena, leading them in anti-WCW chants and mocking the promotion in general. When DX attempted to drive the truck down into the arena entrance, security closed the door. In an ironic twist, if WCW had allowed DX to drive their truck down to the ring, they probably would have popped a rating larger than they could have ever imagined. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0B5csEiqRU While the segment was mostly for comedy, it signaled that the WWF was ready to go on the offensive and their new, younger talent were starting to turn the corner.
