10 Biggest WWF vs WCW Firing Shots During Monday Night Wars

3. Scott Hall And Kevin Nash Debut

Scott Hall and Kevin Nash's departure from the WWF ushered in a new age for World Championship Wrestling and some dark days for the WWF. When Scott Hall "invaded" Nitro in 1996, he was portrayed as an unnamed outside force who was taking the fight to WCW. His famous quote of "You want a war? You got one!" told fans that he was from the World Wrestling Federation and he was here to destroy WCW. Of course, he wasn't from the WWF and was receiving paychecks from Ted Turner but that didn't stop WCW from pushing the "WWF invader" angle as far as they could. When Kevin Nash debuted the following week, some (not-so-smart) fans honestly thought that the WWF was invading Ted Turner's promotion. Almost everyone agreed that this was an awesome storyline and looked forward to seeing how it would play out. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xqmnte_wcw-nitro-1996-scott-hall-and-eric-bischoff-kevin-nash-debut_sport One person who didn't think the storyline was awesome was Vince McMahon. He, rightfully so, felt that WCW was making money using WWF trademarks. Specifically, that they were using the Razor Ramon and Diesel personas that were trademarked by the WWF. This triggered an actual lawsuit filed in court which resulted in Hall and Nash stating on pay-per-view that they were not employees of the WWF. The lawsuit dragged on for years until it was dropped by McMahon, on the condition that he would have the first crack at purchasing WCW should it ever go out of business.
