10 Bizarre Wrestling Movies You Must Watch
2. Sting: Moment Of Truth (2004)
No doubt you're thinking that the Icon was secretly facing down some Jake Roberts-esque demons, but it turns out Sting's personal demons were pretty tame. You see, he drank too much on the road sometimes, and took a lot of painkillers because wrestling left him in constant pain.
Then, at his lowest point -- a Moment of Truth™ -- his wife demanded that he get clean to save their marriage. He did, and it was fine. I mean, good for him, and I wish more wrestling stories ended that way, but I'm not sure it warranted cinematic adaptation.
Really, the movie is a commercial for Sting's specific brand of Christianity, so if you're not in the market for that, it may not hold much allure for you. There's some stuff that fans might enjoy, however; it's interesting to hear Sting's perception of his own career, not filtered through a company employing him.
Also great are the film's dramatic reenactments of Sting's big WCW triumphs, represented by new footage featuring his pals from TNA. Chris Harris is basically "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan, right?
Immortal Dialogue: "What a strange moment. I was sweating bullets. What if some of the other wrestlers walked by, like Ric Flair or the Four Horsemen? Then, all I could think of was that the next time I saw Ted, I'd punch him right in the mouth."
