10 Blatant WWE Cash Grabs
3. Jinder Mahal's WWE Title Run
Not all of WWE's cash grabs work, either, as evidenced by Jinder Mahal's wretched WWE title run in 2017.
The 'Jinder Mahal Experiment' was a very blatant attempt to profit from the Indian market and Vince McMahon had just the man for the job.
A guy who'd recently been nothing more than a jobber, flanked by two lads who bumped like they were made out of rubber.
What could go wrong?
Well, everything as it turned out.
His 170 day reign saw him fend off Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura - with a lot of help from the Singh Brothers - and fans were found serenading the 'Modern Day Maharaja' with the dreaded 'go home' heat.
The experiment came to an end when McMahon realised the reign had little to no effect on the Indian market and this blatant attempt to extract some extra cash from a new source fell flat on its face. Maybe it was down to the fact that the guy they were pushing was actually from Canada and therefore his claims of representing 'his people' didn't exactly resonate as expected with McMahon's target audience.
Mahal soon returned into the realms of obscurity, but at least we got to see The Great Khali and a Punjabi Prison match, again... speaking of which...
