10 Bold AEW Predictions For 2024
9. ROH 6-Man & AEW Trios Championships Merged
Six-man tag team championships are not a recent invention. NWA famously had a set of six-man tag team titles from 1955 onwards, and fans of AEW will be very familiar with the concept. That being said, there seems to be some confusion within AEW over whether their own Trios Championships are the most important, or the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Championships.
With Tony Khan running both promotions, the question has to be asked: why not merge them? He undoubtedly has the power to do so, and a unification match may be a step towards bringing down the number of titles available in AEW.
Current AEW Trios Champions, The Acclaimed, have recently been looking to work together with Jay White and The Gunns (‘The Bang Bang Scissors Gang’), and helped them capture the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Championships on Dynamite. Could their blossoming allegiance lead to a potential title unification in future, or could The Acclaimed fall victim to an attack by White and the Gunns, setting up a match between the two teams at a later date?
Sometimes, less is more, and this is a prime example of how fewer titles could benefit both divisions.
