10 Bold WWE Predictions For 2016

2. AJ Styles Will Make His NXT Debut

For two years, AJ Styles has been the best wrestler on the planet. Sure, some may not agree with that assessment but it is hard to deny the tremendous performances put in by the Bullet Club leader and multiple time IWGP heavyweight champion. Whether working Okada in Japan or Adam Cole in Ring of Honor, Styles has established himself as one of the most must-see professional wrestlers in the industry. In 2016, he will follow the lead of James Storm, Finn Balor, Hideo Itami, Asuka and Samoa Joe by making his NXT debut. The developmental brand of WWE has become the hottest in the industry, with world renowned talent jumping at the opportunity to compete in the most buzzed about organization in the sport. Lately, Styles has made it a habit to work for promotions with the most buzz around them, be it New Japan Pro Wrestling or Ring of Honor. With no contractual obligations to any company, he is free to work for whomever he pleases. And in the coming year, he will step foot inside a Vince McMahon-owned ring for the first time since 2001 as the new face of NXT. The potential matchups that await him will only add to the excitement and energy that surrounds NXT and Styles will finally receive the recognition he deserves from WWE fans who may not be familiar with his countless accomplishments elsewhere, all the while cementing his status as one of the most decorated and celebrated stars of his generation.
