Throughout 2023, the Intercontinental Championship was held by one man, and one man only. Gunther has beaten all comers and established himself as one of the top performers on the flagship show since his main roster debut in 2022.
Over the years, a strong run with the ‘workhorse’ championship has often preceded a jump to the World title picture. This is something that seems undeniable for Gunther in 2024. A shocking loss of his title (to someone such as Chad Gable, perhaps?) would give him the motivation needed for heading into the World Heavyweight Championship scene and charting a collision course for whomever will be holding it at the time.
With the announcement of WWE’s Bash at Berlin, it has suggested to some that Gunther’s crowning moment could be in the German capital. After all, Gunther made his name on the German independent wrestling scene. Where better to promote the ‘Ring General’ to World Heavyweight Champion?
