3. CM Punk Wins The Royal Rumble
Ever since CM Punk’s incredible return at Survivor Series: WarGames in November 2023, the ‘Voice of the Voiceless’ has dominated wrestling headlines. Everybody wanted to know one thing: “What’s next for CM Punk?” It became clear that he was set for a collision course with Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins, at some point in 2024.
After a heated promo between the two on the 11th December edition of Monday Night Raw, fans around the world have been eagerly awaiting their inevitable clash. Of course, with Rollins being the current World Heavyweight Champion, there seems to be a clear path for the ‘Punker’ to put himself first in line for a showdown with Rollins: winning the Royal Rumble.
Punk formally announced his intentions of entering (and winning) the 30-man extravaganza on the same night that he and Rollins came face-to-face for the first time. This led to WWE fans expecting the ‘Straight Edge Saviour’ to come away from the Royal Rumble with a one-way ticket for the WrestleMania main event, something that played a large part in Punk’s original departure from the company in 2014.
A Rumble win for Punk is something that has eluded his list of accomplishments and it would be another large check in the box to validate his ‘Best in the World’ title.
