10 Booking Steps For WWE Monday Night Raw (Oct 12)
4. Neville Confronts 'King' Barrett
On the surface, it appears that the creative team have transitioned Neville from a feud with Stardust into one with 'King' Barrett. The big Englishman made his return recently, smashing both Neville and Stardust simultaneously. It's unlikely the latter name will be away from things for long, but for now the high-flying native of Newcastle is Barrett's target. That will certainly lead to some cracking matches going forward, but things need to amp up a little in the feud. Barrett provided commentary on Neville's match with Sheamus on Monday Night Raw this past week, and ended up costing him the match. Distracting Neville, Barrett watched with glee as his foe then promptly ate a Brogue Kick and stared at the lights for his Irish opponent. It's obvious that this is a fairly throwaway feud, so WWE should try to make something of it all. It's clear that Neville has the in-ring skills, but his microphone skills remain largely untested. By contrast, Barrett is superb on the mic, but the company seem unsure about his work being good enough for the main event scene. Book Neville to tear into Barrett verbally, let them have great matches, and hopefully both will be able to prove their worth.
