Injured AEW star Will Ospreay was backstage for this week's edition of flagship show Dynamite. The Brit didn't appear on camera, but Fightful Select reports that he was checked over by the company's own medical team with a view to his long term return to action.

That's good news for Will, good news for Tony Khan and great news for those who were worried that the popular workhorse would be on the bench for a full year. Fightful noted that there's nothing set in stone for Ospreay creatively, but that "he could be factored into plans by this spring".

The website also reports they got word around the time of Will's appearance at New Japan's Wrestle Kingdom 20 (he was in the house to honour the retiring Hiroshi Tanahashi) that he wouldn't be on the sidelines for as long as previously feared. Again, that's positive news and sounds promising for a mid-2026 comeback at worst.

Ospreay hasn't wrestled since taking part in a 'Lights Out Steel Cage' effort at Forbidden Door 2025 on 24 August last year. There, he teamed with Tanahashi, Darby Allin, Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi vs. Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Gabe Kidd and The Young Bucks.

In storyline, it was the Death Riders who were booked to take Will out and write him off television.

It's certainly a promising sign that Fightful are reporting on Ospreay being backstage. AEW docs checked him over on Wednesday, and now Khan will start counting down the days until he has Will at his disposal yet again.
