10 Booking Steps For WWE Monday Night Raw (Oct 19)

10. Stop With The Lengthy In-Ring Monologues

On this past week's episode of Monday Night Raw, there were far too many dull speeches inside the ring. To recap, Dean Ambrose and Randy Orton kicked the show off with a lengthy diatribe. From there, they were joined by The New Day. Later in the program, both John Cena and Roman Reigns also had a lot to say. Cena's promo was pedestrian, revolving around little other than the fact the show was being taped in Chicago. Reigns then clumsily repeated the same cheap spiel, but his segment played before noticeable 'boring' chants from the live crowd. It's understandable that WWE wish to propel stories forward with promos, but they really need to feel less like they're existing only to fill up air time. There's nothing wrong with having guys like Reigns and Cena talk, but give them decent material to work with. This coming Monday, there needs to be more focus during these segments. Hell In A Cell will only be 6 days away, so those involved in big matches on the show need to hammer that point home. Simply playing to whichever city the company happens to be in that week isn't enough to captivate those watching at home.
