9. Becky Lynch Vs. Lacey Evans
WrestleMania 35 marked a turning point for WWE. Three new top champions cemented themselves in the main event scene: Kofi Kingston, Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch. The post WrestleMania season was rough for all three champions (we’ll get to Seth). Becky Lynch needed a hot feud to follow the win over Ronda Rousey and Charlotte at WrestleMania. Lacey Evans was not that.
Evans is a talented in-ring performer, one who has grown exponentially over the last few months. However, her abilities were tested in the Becky Lynch feud. She wasn’t ready for this main event push and it showed through the quality of her work. There wasn’t much heat going into this feud. Sure, Lynch was one of the hottest acts in the company, but there was no fire between these two performers.
The couple had a string of matches throughout the first half of 2019, running from Money In The Bank to Stomping Grounds and culminating in a tag match at Extreme Rules. The matches were very uninspired and while both are very good talkers, there were not many memorable angles or promos during their rivalry.
The rivalry between the The Man and the Sassy Southern Belle failed to deliver in the aftermath of the Ronda Rousey feud. Lacey Evans and Becky Lynch are tremendous competitors but their feud from 2019 was a drawn-out slog.
