10 Boring WWE Feuds That Dragged On WAY Too Long
8. AJ Styles Vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
How did WWE manage to mess up AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura?
The build started so well with Nakamura winning the 2018 Royal Rumble and immediately challenging Styles for the belt at WrestleMania. The match was very standard, especially given the talent of the two men in the ring. What followed was a low blow from Shinsuke, turning heel on Styles on the grandest stage of them all.
The aftermath… wasn’t so great. The two battled at The Greatest Royal Rumble, which ended in a double count out. This was then followed up by a No DQ match at Backlash a week later which also ended in a double count out. How you get a double count out in a No DQ match is beyond me.
The pair then battled yet again on SmackDown in order to decide the stipulation for their clash at Money In The Bank, which ended up being an above average Last Man Standing match. This ended the feud that had been going for four consecutive pay-per-views.
While there was so much history that could have been brought into this rivalry, such as their previous encounters in Japan, WWE instead decided to make the focus around low blows… for three months! There was not enough meat in the feud to make this an enjoyable pairing - especially given the amount of times WWE seemed eager to repeat it.
