10 Brilliant Things From Late WCW

10. The Juice

No sane company in the world would have let Juventud Guerrera go out and do what he did towards the end of WCW, but nobody there seemed to be in charge at that point (for all we really know, perhaps Juvi was pulling the strings at the end), so what the hell, why not?

In 1999, Juvi became an announcer on Thunder, despite his English being a little hard to understand. During that time he seemed to have gone out of his mind and began believing he was The Rock, as he started referring to himself in the third person as "The Juice". It made WCW feel really minor league, as they let a wrestler build his entire gimmick off of someone much more successful in a different company, but...damn. It was pretty entertaining.

He’d steal The Great One's signature line with “Finally...The Juice HAS COME BACK to...” and then he’d purposefully screw up the name of the town he was in. In the ring, he'd also perform a ridiculous version of the People's Elbow, which never seemed to pin anyone. It was like he watched The Rock on fast forward for one match, and believed he had all of his moves and mannerisms down.

It was weird, it was hilarious and, sadly, it didn’t last long enough.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
