Boy Bands were all the rage back in the late 90s, from The Backstreet Boys to NSYNC. And if you weren’t a teenage girl, you probably hated them, which is exactly why they made a brilliant heel faction in wrestling.

Shannon Moore, Evan Karagias and “Sugar” Shane Helms joined forces to form 3-Count in late 1999. As soon as you saw them in their initial vignette, it was immediate heat. What made them so good is that the guys looked the part, and their theme song (that they sang themselves) was actually pretty catchy! In the ring, they were also entertaining to watch with their high-flying acrobatics, and had a great series of matches with The Jung Dragons.

The gimmick, though, ran its course far sooner than it should have. Tank Abbott was a silly and needless addition to the group, and their follow-up song fell flat. But for a brief time, 3 Count was a simple, but pretty smart gimmick.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
