WrestleMania 35’s history making main event saw three of the business’ best women headline the show of shows for the first time. And while much of the match itself was great, and the right person certainly went over, the ending itself (as well as some of the booking decisions leading up to it) were somewhat questionable.

2019 was Becky Lynch’s year, and so long as she walked away from the MetLife centre clutching both world belts, the WWE universe would have been happy. In Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey she had a superb veteran and an explosive newcomer with heat to spare, and the three of them put on a hectic triple threat match reminiscent of previous ‘Mania show closers.

The match hinges primarily around each of the women trying to catch the other in their patented submission holds. The build is great - and then it just sort of ends. Becky counters a Rousey move into a crucifix pin and sneaks the win, with Becky celebrating and Ronda arguing the toss.

Presumably the intention was for a rematch, but Rousey hasn’t been seen since. Still, when Becky held the two belts aloft, no one cared too much about the negatives.
