This one might be controversial to some.

Triple H dusted off a Dusty Rhodes classic by bringing WarGames to NXT in 2017. 'The Game' removed the roof, but kept most of the classic NWA/WCW format intact as best he could. Meanwhile, one Vincent Kennedy McMahon probably sat in a corner sulking because he didn't create the gimmick.

Fans happy to see the match type in WWE 2K23 after years of wish-listing will understand how exciting it was to see WarGames back on TV. However, removing the roof was a risky move from Triple H, and one that could have (in theory) boiled the blood of traditionalists who wanted WarGames as it was when they last saw it.

Hunter was right though - ripping the roof off that double cage extended the amount of crazy spots workers could perform in and around it. As a result, WWE has produced some of the best WarGames matches ever over the past five-six years.
