6. Shawn Michaels Nearly Breaks All His Ribs During Moonsault
Shawn Michaels similarly caused himself a lot of pain by attempting a dangerous Moonsault at WrestleMania XXIV. During an emotionally-charged 'Retirement Match' opposite Ric Flair, 'The Showstopper' very nearly stopped his own performance with the springboard back flip. The pain must have been excruciating, but he managed to continue and finish the bout as planned. With Flair resting prone on the announce desk, Michaels made his way to the ring apron for the stunt. Pouncing off the ropes, he launched himself high into the air, and the resultant fall could have been disastrous. Falling just short of his planned landing area, the wrestler crashed ribs-first into the table. Part of it gave way as intended, but some of the wood and plastic remained, painfully jarring Michaels' ribs. Usually the fans go wild following such a move. There was a great deal of noise, but some around ringside clearly believed Michaels had injured himself badly with the dive. Watching the replays, there's no doubting it looked really nasty. Flair seemed unaware of the distress his peer was in, and Michaels deserves credit for being able to finish the encounter, the Nature Boy's last.
