10 Candidates For WWE's Bizarre Post-WrestleMania 38 Push
4. Joe Gacy
WWE tends to shy away from overtly political stuff in 2022.
Gone are the days where Vince McMahon would book Rosie O'Donnell as a cake-munching disgrace via horrendous impersonator in a warped match designed to babyface Donald Trump. Gone are the days in which Chris Nowinski would be booked as a beta male for daring to suggest that the United States of f*ckin' Murica was a superpower bully. WWE cannot be seen to endorse a specific party; it might scan as tacit, insidious support of Vince's wife at the time.
But then again, Joe Gacy exists.
For the those unaware - i.e. everybody under the age of 62 - Joe Gacy is currently playing a heel on NXT 2.0. His character is effectively "What a right wing-leaning person thinks a "leftist" looks like". Gacy plays a creepy fellow who talks of "inclusion" and "safe spaces". WWE is essentially saying that, by booking Gacy as a cheater, the "woke left" are weird hypocrites. The subtext is hardly subtext, but the question is: will the traditional post-'Mania ratings dip slide enough for WWE to reach for shock value?
Will Joe Gacy initiate a feud with Drew McIntyre in protest of his sword or some b*llocks?
