Kurt Angle vs Shane McMahon from King of the Ring 2001 is infamous for one spot: the boss' son getting suplexed through solid glass that was supposed to be easily breakable, his skull crushing against it with blunt force trauma, his neck colliding with the concrete as his body slumps over unnaturally.

Instead of the spot being dropped, Shane insists to try it again, and the glass shatters, his limp body flying through the shards and barely protecting himself on the drop. The plan was to go through more than one, and Shane, staggering around with a major concussion and unable to protect himself, screams at Angle to keep going.

He takes a head bump onto the second pane. It doesn't break and his head slides down at a repulsive angle. He gets picked up again and gets slammed for the fourth time in total, his eyes are blinking with complete confusion, he looks scarred and shattered, and Kurt Angle's face is plagued with horror for what he's doing to him.

He calls an audible and throws a Belly to Belly suplex through and breaks the second pane, hoping that he won't land on his skull. Instead of it being stopped or that being the finish, the match continues, and every time Shane gets some offence, the pop that he receives is overwhelming; he is cemented as a babyface in the midst of pure terror.

It's the most organic a babyface has ever looked in the company, and it shouldn't have been allowed to happen. It's a train wreck because of an organisational mishap that could have killed a man, and adored because the inherent danger of wrestling often leads to its finest narrative and character moments.

It's one of the greatest matches they've ever put on, and is still horrifying to witness.
