10 Characters WWE Gave Up On Way Too Soon

4. Matt Hardy V1

Matt Hardy Version 1
WWE

Who else misses 'Matt Facts' on WWE TV? For all the clamouring to see Hardy play his 'Broken' gimmick again, it'd be amazing if he reprised the 'Version 1' character from 2002-03 instead. The people of this world need to know that Matt "strongly dislikes mustard" and that he "only drinks low fat chocolate milk".

The Version 1 idea was a chance for Matt to show that he could do more than play tag-team daredevil alongside his brother Jeff. It was his first crack at playing heel as a solo artist in WWE, but it wasn't appreciated as much as it should have been. The creative team didn't seem to get Matt's unique, web player entrance or delusional promos.

He wouldn't get the chance to take the character further than the Cruiserweight division. Once Matt's feud with Rey Mysterio was over, the writers didn't have anything in mind to follow up. Hardy just kinda' mucked around on SmackDown until being drafted back to Raw and put back in his old role.
