10 Classic Teams Who Returned To WWE Past Their Prime

2. The Road Warriors

The return of The Road Warriors in May 2003 was one of the most surprising comebacks in the history of Raw. Totally unannounced, completely unadvertised and in an era where internet spoilers weren't as prevalent, the shocking arrival of the former Tag Team Champions was an unforgettable moment.

With fittingly awesome introduction from Eric Bischoff, the veteran team made their return to Raw by challinging reigning Tag Champs, Kane and Rob Van Dam. While time had undoubtedly taken it's toll on the bodies of the badass Chicago duo, the legendary Legion of Doom hung with the champs throughout the short title bout.

The crowd popped big for the entrance and even bigger for the call of the Doomsday Device. Unfortunately for the returning Road Warriors, RVD ducked the line from Hawk off the top in a clunky spot that led to the Five Star Frog Splash for the finish.

Sadly, this was the final appearance of Hawk in WWE as he passed away from heart failure just five months later. Animal would return two years later to reform the LOD with Heidenreich, winning the WWE Tag Team Titles in tribute to their fallen LOD brother.
