10 Classic WrestleMania Moments (WWE Won’t Ever Brag About)
7. The Actual Record-Breaking WrestleMania 32 Attendance
WWE broke their own real and fictional attendance record at WrestleMania 32.
Dave Meltzer shattered the attendance myth behind WrestleMania III, liaising with the ticket office to confirm that 78,000 - an amazing number in its own right - piled into the Pontiac Silverdome, and not the publicised 93,000. WWE genuinely exceeded the genuine number at SummerSlam 1992 in Wembley Stadium, a commendable but inconvenient fact. For those who roll their eyes at the mere mention of Meltzer's moniker, this tendency to inflate is quietly acknowledged by Vince McMahon himself, who explains to suspicious shareholders that he does this for "entertainment purposes" - which is exactly what he did for WrestleMania 32, the claimed attendance for which reached 101,763. Even though the real calculation of 93,730 exceeded the fake 'Mania III number, McMahon, obsessed with the idea of drawing a six-figure crowd, simply included the roster, the AT&T Stadium staff and some dead pets to arrive at it.
WCW's Collision In Korea events housed more people, but did not strictly "draw" them. The North Korean public was ordered to attend. So, in effect, WrestleMania 32 was, genuinely, the most-attended wrestling show in history - but this somehow wasn't enough.
