10 Classic Wrestling Matches New Fans Need To See

1. Bill Dundee vs. Jerry Lawler, December 30, 1985

First off, Jerry "The King" Lawler went into this event with only one eye. The stipulation was that if Lawler lost, he had to leave town. If Dundee lost, both he and his wife would lose their hair.

There was nothing high-flying or pretty about this. It was a classic wrasslin' brawl, and Bill Dundee was on the puncher's side for much of it. This was all about how to get heat on the hell and sympathy for the babyface. Dundee immediately brutalized Lawler's patched eye and maintains the onslaught for eight more minutes. The beating borders on uncomfortable at some points until finally, our hero catches Dundee with a big right hand. After that glimmer of hope, Dundee went back to literally beating and biting the King bloody.

Once the fight left the ring, Lawler started making a comeback. Dundee and his wife attempted to leave the arena, but Lawler just took the fight to the stands. After an intense series of exchanges in and out of the ring, Lawler pulled the strap off of his shoulder (meaning the end is near for his foe), but Dundee threw something in Lawler's eyes and covered him for the win. Nobody sold like the King.
