10 Classic Wrestling Matches New Fans Need To See
7. Royal Rumble 1992
Royal Rumbles can be a lot of fun, but they can also devolve into absolute messes. It's tough to draw a cohesive narrative through an hour-long, 30 man contest. A 60-minute match requires a 60-minute man! The 1992 Rumble was a well-crafted showcase for Ric Flair. The Nature boy utilized superb ring psychology and all the dirty tricks in his book to battle for nearly an hour.
Entering as the third man in the Rumble, Flair appears to be working to help put over The British Bulldog, who entered first. Flair and The Bulldog slogged through 25 minutes of mayhem before Bulldog was eliminated.
From there Flair masterfully sank into the background, allowing others the spotlight, popping up when it suited him. 'Naitch played all the hits: Groin shots, face plants and eye pokes.
The final three in the ring were Flair, Hulk Hogan and Sid Justice. After Sid elimated Hogan, The Hulkster held onto Sid's arm, giving Flair the edge he needed to push Sid over the ropes and claim the WWE Championship.
